Prayer Meeting and Bible Study

7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

We have a time to enjoy conversation and refreshments between the Lord's Supper and Family Bible Hour.

On the first Sunday of each month we have a fellowship meal ("pot luck," pardon the expression). Visitors and those who forget to bring food are always welcome to stay. There's always plenty of food.

Here's a brief description of our meetings:

Lord's Supper: Remembrance service. Jesus instructed all believers to take the bread and the cup "in remembrance of Me." Participation is open to those who personally know Jesus Christ as Savior. Those who are not Christians, or are not sure, are invited to observe. The focus of this meeting is to worship God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and to remember the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

This is a participatory meeting, not led by an individual.  It is a wonderful opportunity for all to pray and worship silently, meditate on scripture, and join in the singing.  Brothers who are exercised to participate are encouraged to share publicly with a scripture (and, if they wish, share an application), a prayer, or a song, etc.

Family Bible Hour: We begin this meeting with singing plus opening prayer and announcements.  After this, the children are excused to go to Sunday school.  The adults remain to hear the scheduled speaker. (Since we do not subscribe to a "one man appointed pastor", we encourage those who have the gift of teaching or pastoring to teach from the pulpit.)  This meeting is in progress for about 45 minutes to an hour, and is almost always over by noon.

Wednesday Prayer Meeting and Bible Study: We share prayer requests and spend time in prayer.  Following this is a time of Bible study.  Study time may be covering the Scripture passage from the previous Sunday's message, a "series" through a book of the Bible, a particular topic, or a "set" of good spiritual videos that provide insights into God's Word.  Appropriate selections are made and announced in advance.  Various brothers volunteer to lead each discussion session.  All discussion/studies are conducted similar to a class-room environment with interaction from all present.
